Our latest write up by Rita Murray in Melbourne’s predominant newspaper, The Age reiterated the importance of orthodontics from a functional point of view over a cosmetic stance. Our very own Dr Jason Yap was featured in the article and when asked about the functionality behind orthodontic braces he said,
“IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, EARLY INTERVENTION WILL REMOVE ANY EARLY MALOCcLUSION OR EARLY INTERFERENCES IN THE WAY TEETH FIT TOGETHER. IT CAN ALSO MAKE FUTURE ORTHODONTIC TREATMENTS EASIER.” ”
The article also features the story of Gisborne Mum, Jeanette Hofer who sought orthodontic treatment for her two children, Isabelle, 15, and Thomas, 12, when she discovered they both had significant overbites and overcrowded teeth. These problems affected the way Jeanette’s children ate and spoke.
After a year worth of orthodontic treatment by Simply Orthodontics, Mrs Hofer says her daughter’s life has been drastically improved. “It was difficult for her to bite into some foods such as apples beforehand, because her teeth weren’t meeting,” Mrs Hofer said.
