For those who prefer a more discreet approach to wearing braces, our cosmetic tooth-coloured braces are just the thing for you! At Simply Orthodontics, we utilise Damon Clear™ braces which are 100% ceramic and most importantly do not discolour. The brackets are very comfortable for patients to adjust to in the beginning of treatment. They are also self-ligating and work efficiently with the range of wires that we use, therefore streamlining treatment.
While treatments with clear aligners such as Invisalign™ have the benefit of being equally discreet, their use may not be recommended for certain orthodontic problems. Not only are our cosmetic braces cost-effective, they are also suited to every patient.
Your initial consultation is designed to allow you and your Orthodontist to have an informative yet informal discussion about your concerns and orthodontic needs. Your visual and radiographic records will provide invaluable information and together with the clinical assessment, will enable your Orthodontist to formulate a treatment plan that is customised to you and addresses all your concerns.
Your braces fitting appointment, also known as the ‘Band Up’ appointment is one of two longer appointments of your treatment and is usually scheduled for the middle part of the day. It is a relaxing appointment and no anaesthesia is required for the braces to be fitted. An oral hygiene care session follows the band up procedure where you will be shown how to care for your teeth and new braces.
Every 6-8 weeks patients return to the practice for their braces-check appointments. At these appointments, adjustments may be made to your braces and your progress will be discussed.
The procedure for removing braces is a relatively quick and simple one. Once the braces are removed, our Hygienists will also clean and polish the bonding resin off the tooth surfaces. A set of impressions is then taken to fabricate your new set of retainers, which are made in house by our clinical staff. As these appointments usually take place in the morning, your retainers will be ready for your fit appointment in the afternoon.
Your retainers retain your new tooth positions and wearing them is paramount to maintaining your new smile. Relapse can occur if retainers are not worn and its severity can present in varying degrees. Further retainer check appointments are included in your initial treatment fee and Dr Skilton and Dr Yap are always happy to provide additional retainer checks if required.
Ideal for patients who would like a more discreet option than traditional metal braces, cosmetic braces are tooth-coloured and are both comfortable and effective. At Simply Orthodontics, we offer Damon Clear braces, which are made from 100% ceramics.
Because cosmetic braces are tooth-coloured, they are almost completely invisible, making them a great option for adults seeking a discreet treatment option. They do not discolour during the course of treatment.
The braces are self-litigating, which means that they work efficiently with the use of wires. We offer Damon Clear braces, which are a cost-effective choice.
The Damon Clear™ ceramic braces are made of sturdy polycrystalline alumina, manufactured to have smooth and rounded contours for maximum patient comfort. This differs from other cosmetic braces in that it is fully aesthetic and does not require the traditional metal slot that interacts with the archwire. This means that you do not see any metal on your brace itself. As they are self-ligating, there is no need for modules (clear ties), which eliminates the “staining” component from your braces. Thus, no matter what you eat or drink, your clear braces will not discolour during treatment.
Invisalign™ clear aligners are widely known as ‘Invisible Braces’ as they are made of a clear plastic material and wearing a series of aligners will elicit tooth movement. While this treatment modality can be extremely effective for certain patients, not every patient is a good candidate.
Lingual orthodontic treatment/lingual braces are also another alternative to cosmetic braces. Braces are placed on the inner aspect of the teeth, allowing for effective tooth movement without any visible braces. Simply Orthodontics is a provider of IncognitoTM lingual braces which remain the “gold standard” in lingual appliances.
You’ll need to see your orthodontist for an initial consultation, during which you can discuss any concerns you might have. You’ll also have a clinical assessment at this point so that your treatment plan can be formulated.
Next, you’ll attend a fitting appointment in which your braces will be fitted. You’ll be shown to how to take care of your braces.
Every six to eight weeks, you will attend a check-up appointment. Any necessary adjustments will be made, and your orthodontist will check your progress.
Once your treatment is complete, your braces will be removed. Your teeth will be cleaned and polished, and a set of impressions will be taken so that a set of retainers can be made.
